Harley-Davidson Motorcycles Set Records at Bonneville Nationals in 1970

Harley-Davidson powered motorcycles set a number of records at the annual Bonneville Salt Flat Nationals in 1970.

Bobby Thompson on his Speedster turned in an average 172.5 mph for a record.

Leo Payne on a 3000cc bike broke a record and Leo Payne broke the 200 mph barrier for a motorcycle with an average of 202.379 mph.

The Harley Streamliner was a disappointment. But they came back in the fall and the Speedster powered Streamliner set a new record.
